Give Your Kids the World

Cultivating a Heart for the Nations in Children and Youth

Missions for Children and Youth Resources

  • Take your family through the 7 week “Families on Mission” study from Tiny Theologians.
  • Read missionary biographies with your children, such as the “Heroes for Young Readers” series.
  • Or the “Christian Heroes: Then and Now” Series.
  • Use your daily or weekly family devotional time to learn about God’s heart for the Nations with the “One Big Story” series.
  • Parents, do a 6 week study with your small group or a few other families on the why and how of intentional, missional discipleship with your children.
  • Order a free kids prayer map from Every Home for Christ to learn more about praying for unreached people groups.
  • Watch videos from prayercast about unreached people groups.
  • Read a letter from Around the World and pray for the believers in countries with many unreached people groups.
  • Collect prayer or Christmas cards from missionaries that you know or that your church or presbytery supports. Pick one family to pray for each night.
  • Read and pray your way through Who Are Frontier People Groups?
  • Parents, learn about 10 principles for building great commission families in Raising Kids with a Heart for Missions.
  • Take your children on a short-term mission trip.
  • Host missionaries in your home when they come to visit your church.
  • Create a Prayer for the World corner in your home, put pictures of workers or unreached people groups on the wall, make it cozy with cushions and string lights and spend time praying there each day.
  • Take your children to eat at an ethnic restaurant (Thai, Indian, Middle Eastern, etc). Get to know your server and ask them about their home country. Continue to pray for them and their people.
  • Look for international festivals or celebrations of culture in your area (particularly if you are near a University with international students). Attend to meet people and learn about their cultures.
  • If there is a park or playground near International student housing or an area with lots of immigrants, be intentional about going there when you might meet families from other countries.
  • Google your area for a mosque or temple and do a prayer walk in that neighborhood.
  • Shop at an international grocery store and learn about the foods people eat around the world.
  • Look at the tags on your clothing and pray for the country where it was made.
